Machinery safety

The conformity assessment according to the requirements of the Technical Regulation of  machinery safety, approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 62 dated January 30, 2013, is a mandatory requirement. Machinery shall be presumed to comply with the essential health and safety requirements noticed in Annexes 1-6 of this Technical Regulation. National standards are used to confirm compliance, that provides a presumption of equipment compliance with the requirements of the Technical Regulation of machinery safety.

It is necessary to submit an application to the Conformity Assessment Body "TECKO" for carrying out conformity assessment work with the requirements of the Technical Regulation. The technical file is attached in electronic form together with the application in accordance with the List defined by the relevant assessment procedures (modules).  It is necessary to send a completed application with a set of documents on e-mail: info@tecko.com.ua. Within 1-2 working days, we will definitely contact you to agree on the timing and cost of work.

The scope of the Technical Regulation of machinery safety applies to all types of machinery and equipment, specified in paragraph 2 of this TR.

Assessment of conformity with internal checks on the manufacture of machinery (module A) applies to all machines.

For machinery of dangerous types (according to the Annex  9 of this TR) manufactured in conformity with a harmonised standard and complied with the essential health and safety requirements covered by such a harmonised standard.

The following procedures are applied:

  • internal checks on the manufacture of machinery (module A),
  • type-examination (module В) together with the implementation of  internal checks on the manufacture of machinery (module А),
  • the full quality assurance (module Н).

Where the machinery is referred to in Annex IX and has not been manufactured in accordance with the harmonised standards referred to in Article 11 of this Technical regulation, or only partly in accordance with such standards, or if the harmonised standards do not cover all the relevant essential health and safety requirements or if no harmonised standards exist for the machinery in question, the manufacturer or his authorised representative shall apply one of the following procedures:

  • type-examination (module В) together with the implementation of  internal checks on the manufacture of machinery (module А),
  • the full quality assurance (module Н).

Circular saws.

Hand-fed surface planing machinery for woodworking.

  1.  

Thicknessers for one-side dressing having a built-in mechanical feed device, with manual loading and/or unloading for woodworking.

Band-saws with manual loading.

  1.  

Combined machinery of the types referred above.

  1.  

Hand-fed tenoning machinery with several tool holders for woodworking.

  1.  

Hand-fed vertical spindle moulding machinery.

  1.  

Portable chainsaws for woodworking.

  1.  

Presses, including press-brakes, for the cold working of metals, with manual loading and/or unloading.

Injection or compression plastics-moulding machinery with manual loading or unloading.

Injection or compression rubber-moulding machinery with manual loading or unloading.

  1.  

Machinery for underground working of the following types:

-locomotives and brake-vans;

-hydraulic-powered roof supports.

  1.  

Removable mechanical transmission devices including their guards.

  1.  

Guards for removable mechanical transmission devices.

  1.  

Vehicle servicing lifts.

  1.  

Devices for the lifting of persons or of persons and goods involving a hazard of falling from a vertical height of more than three metres.

  1.  

Portable cartridge-operated fixing and other impact machinery.

  1.  

Protective devices designed to detect the presence of persons.

 

  1.  

Power-operated interlocking movable guards designed to be used as safeguards in machinery.

  1.  

Logic units to ensure safety functions.

  1.  

Roll-over protective structures (ROPS).

  1.  

Falling-object protective structures (FOPS).

Typically, three Technical regulations are applied together for electric machinery: Technical Regulation of machinery safety, Technical Regulation of low voltage equipment, Technical Regulation of electromagnetic compatibility.

Affixing the mark of conformity to technical regulation is mandatory.

The list of national standards that meet European harmonized standards and voluntary application of which can be perceived as proof of compliance with the requirements of the Technical Regulation of machinery safety (Order of Ministry of Economy №1779 from 14.09.2020).
