Technical Supervision Service of Lithuania (notified body number 1399)

Technical Supervision Service was founded by the act No. 955 of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania issued on December 16, 1992 following the reorganisation of the Labour Safety Department under the Government of the Republic of Lithuania and since January 1, 2001 was reorganised into the public institution for assessing the technical condition of potentially dangerous equipment by the act No. 1408 of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania issued on December 4, 2000 and operates as an autonomous and independent organisation which carries out the assessment of equipment technical condition.

Technical Supervision Service is a public accredited institution for assessing technical condition of potentially dangerous equipment.

Technical Supervision Service as EC notified body (identification № 1399) provides conformity assessment of lifts, simple pressure vessels, pressure equipment, transportable pressure equipment, vehicles servicing lifts and devices for the lifting of persons involving a risk of falling from a vertical height of more than three metres.

Technical Supervision Service is accredited:

• - in accordance with the requirements of the standard LST EN ISO/IEC 17020 as the Type A Inspection Body, which conducts the assessment of potentially dangerous equipment and its facilities;
• - The Certification Department of the Service is accredited in accordance with the requirements of the standard LST EN ISO/IEC 17024 for welders, welding operators and brazers certification;
• - The Testing Laboratory of the Service is accredited in accordance with the requirements of the standard LST EN ISO/IEC 17025 to carry out tests of potentially dangerous equipment, metal constructions, metal, welding and brazing joints employing non-destructive and destructive methods.

The main services provided by Technical Supervision Service are: assessment of equipment technical condition (equipment supervision), including seamless and welded gas cylinders; equipment conformity assessment; welders certification; welding operators; brazers certification; approval of welding procedure specifications; approval of brazing procedure specifications; testing and inspection of equipment, metal constructions, metal and welds; providing installation, maintenance, operation and conformity assessment information to the equipment holders.
